Blinkist writes in their advertising calls to action, “Meet the app that CEOs love.” Add me to that roster!
As a leader and professional, you’re supposed to read this book and that book and there’s always some new thought leadership on the horizon. As much as I enjoy reading, the hours in the day get taken up by professional and personal commitments and the time it takes to get through a single book means I’d rarely be crossing things off that ever-growing list of “things to read”. Enter: Blinkist. The “big ideas in small packages” service is essentially an audible CliffsNotes on top nonfiction titles in just 10-20 minutes.
Over 3,000 selections are currently available, offering what the service describes as “key takeaways from the world’s best nonfiction books in text and audio”. I’ve been reading, or rather, listening, for the past several months and I’ve found the app a great fit into my daily life. Like many of you, I often sit in Raleigh’s slowly lingering traffic in the morning on the way to and in between meetings. I simply connect my phone via Bluetooth to my vehicle and pick right back up where I last left off with Blinkist.
The subscription will run you $99 per year when billed annually or $15.99 if you sign up for the monthly subscription. There’s a free seven-day trial available to see if you can make this new and addicting habit part of your daily routine. I recommend it, without compensation or urging from the company, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it, too.
